Hi, I’m Emily. That seems like a good starting place.
I've always been more interested in people than words. Words just happen to be how I understand people.
I'm a self-proclaimed word nerd, recovering perfectionist, and writer who's endlessly fascinated by why some words make us stop, trust, laugh, cry… or just keep scrolling.
I specialize less in industries and more in translation, helping organizations explain complex ideas in ways people actually connect with.
Over the last 17 years, I’ve written my way into healthcare, higher education, fintech, technology, luxury travel, wellness, and the nonprofit world—for more than 50 clients and publishers. Time flies when you're chasing synonyms.
I love nothing more than helping people give a voice to their ideas. Even the ones scribbled on napkins.
Ask Me About…
The time I taught yoga on a yacht in the Galápagos Islands.
The reason I never have to cook.
My bichon frisé, Sophie Rose.
Why I went to Italy to study astronomy and came home with mostly food, wine, and fashion knowledge.
The 10-day silent meditation retreat where I may or may not have broken the "no writing" rule.
Why I have a giant whiteboard in my living room.
How a "not a numbers person" ended up writing about finance for YNAB.
How garage sales healed my relationship with Nordstrom.
My obsession with Alone.
My affinity for early bedtimes.
What I'm planning to do with my countless hours of yoga teacher training.
The children's book that's currently a wonderfully terrible first draft.
My world travels to places most people don't think to go.
Why on earth I moved 12 times in 10 years. (I'm still not entirely sure.)
My garden that confidently goes to seed every single year.
How a yoga teacher ended up marrying a former linebacker.
My new birding binoculars.
My 92-year-old bestie.
Seriously, please give me a reason to talk about my dog.
